Smoothie King is a healthy beverage-making-stand chain, one of the first of its kind in the US. Smoothie King's founder, Steve Kuhnau, had trouble with allergies and low blood sugar; he started messing around with a blender, mixing real fruit, nutrients and proteins. His health improved greatly, and in 1973 Kuhnau opened a health food store, selling vitamins along with his healthful drinks, the Smoothie.
