Honey Dew Donuts was founded in 1973 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, by Richard J. Bowen, a man with a life long love of donuts. As a child, he followed his father to work at a local donut shop in West Roxbury, and in high school Richard worked at several coffee and donut shops. The success of Richard's first Honey Dew Donuts was replicated in 1975, with the business' first franchise, and three years later Richard introduced a drive-thru concept to the shops.
