The first Cantina Laredo opened in 1984, serving Mexican dishes in a "sophisticated atmosphere." The Dallas restaurant was a success, and more Cantina Laredos were opened (today there are 29). The menu at Cantina Laredo offers daily fish specials, grilled chicken and steaks with signature sauces, chipotle-wine with portobello mushrooms, and sauteéd artichoke hearts and roasted red bell peppers. Serving cuisine native to Mexico City, Cantina's cooking is highly regarded; the Ft Myers News-Press noted, "Cantina Laredo is to Mexican what P.F. Chang's is to Chinese."
