| Santa Cruz Mountains $59. Shows the dramatic way that this mountainous region south of San Francisco can ripen Pinot Noir to such perfection. Brilliant in raspberry, cherry, sassafras, mocha, anise and cinnamon flavors, with rich notes of smoky cedar, it shows enough tannins to age it for a few years. |

| Napa Valley $48. Very rich and lush, in the modern style, with melted cherry pie filling, cocoa, red and black currant, anise, pepper and smoky oak flavors. Firm tannins give all that richness structural support, but it’s really a wine to enjoy over the next few years. |
